The Importance of Socialisation and Training for Puppies
I firmly believe that proper socialisation and training are crucial for the development of well-adjusted and well-behaved puppies. In my opinion, indoor puppy training in small spaces, such as those found in veterinary clinics or pet shops, is not an ideal environment for puppies. Instead, I recommend training outside, in a setting that allows for a variety of dogs and plenty of experience.
The Significance of Social Training
Socialisation is a vital component of a puppy’s early development, particularly during the first 14 weeks of life. It is essential to expose your puppy to various environments, people, and animals before the second C5 vaccine. This can be achieved by taking your puppy on outings with you, holding them in your arms, and introducing them to different sounds, sights, and smells.
You can join a local puppy class at 8 weeks old age 🙂
Important Considerations
However, it is important to remember that this early socialisation period should be managed carefully. Avoid exposing your puppy to other dogs’ feces and urine, as this can lead to unwanted behaviors. Additionally, it is essential to delay introducing your puppy to other dogs until they have received their full series of vaccinations.
By prioritising socialisation and training outside with a variety of dogs and plenty of experience, you can set your puppy up for success and help them develop into a well-adjusted and well-behaved companion.
You can choose
Join a local obedience club (around $250/ year)
Join a local puppy / dog group training class (around $250/6-8 sessions)
Find a private dog trainer (around $200/hour)
Participating in a puppy class will allow you to seek help for bad behavior such as jumping and biting. We strongly recommend that all owners, especially those who are new to dogs, must enter training.
